A beautiful revelation! After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. John 19:28-29 ESV
Was Jesus really thirsty when He said, “I thirst”? No, it can’t be. He who created heaven and earth, He who said He is the living water…What did he meant?
Look again at the Scripture. It was a setup for triumph! The messianic Psalm of David says this, They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink. Psalm 69:21 ESV When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30 ESV The fulfillment of scriptures. Oh wow! Just when the devil thought it was the end, Jesus said, “It is finished.” God has a purpose for every thirst in your life.
