As I was reading this book I only knew one thing, our God is an awesome God! He does things beyond what human minds can comprehend and His ways are truly victorious! There were many instances in the book that broke my heart to see the persecution faced by brothers and sisters all over the world for declaring and living their faith.
“Listen too me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name.” Isaiah 49:1
Reading this book as I was listening to life testimonies of many missionaries just increased my faith that He who has called me is faithful and surely will do it at His appointed time! As Brother Yun shared, there are many moments even in my life that I run ahead of God’s plans and although He is merciful to forgive and love us, we still have to face the consequences of our actions.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. John 15:16
One particular portion that keeps tugging my heart is this:
One day, back at the Oil Station, we laid hands on a team that was being sent to Sichuan Province. Brother Wei asked the young men and women, “You have no money and you are going far away from home. What is the one thing you are most afraid will happen to you?”
The new workers responded in one voice, “We are not afraid of going hungry or of being beaten. We are willing to die for the gospel! We are only afraid of going with God’s presence. Please pray He will be with us every day.”
I too pray this prayer in my life and yours that we never go without the presence of God is whatever we are doing.
I had no Bible with me, so I meditated on God’s Word from memory and prayed in tears for the churches. I shouted out Bible verses at the top of my voice, clinging to God’s promises…
It is so important that we do not get caught up with the works that we forget God.
I loved doing things for the Lord so much that it had become my security and my source of joy. God wanted to remove this idol from my life.
Moving out in faith
It’s only when we step out in obedience and share the gospel with people that we come to know God’s blessings in every area of our lives. That us why the Apostle Paul wrote to his co-worker Philemon, “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” Philemon 6
Never be satisfied with God’s calling or his gifts in your life. Be satisfied with Jesus Christ himself!
